From Day Job to Dream Job: My Journey to Full-Time Woodworking

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to share a milestone with you: as of January 31st, 2024, I'm officially a full-time woodworker and map maker! It's been a journey fueled by passion, hard work, and the unwavering support of my amazing wife, April.

For those who've followed G. Loebick Woodworks since its launch in 2020, you know it started as a side hustle, a creative outlet alongside my full-time graphic design job. The dream of making it full-time always simmered, but the leap seemed daunting. However, the desire to pursue this passion grew stronger, and with careful planning and April's encouragement, I decided to take the plunge.

Leaving the desk job wasn't easy. It offered stability and comfort, but it also lacked the creative fulfillment I craved. So, with a mix of excitement and nervousness, I said goodbye to working for a company and embraced the world of sawdust and wood shavings.

One of the first steps was transforming our basement into a dedicated workshop. No more battling the elements or worrying about my tools – now, I had a climate-controlled haven where inspiration could truly flourish. To further fuel my creativity, I invested in some new tools, including a table saw, jointer, and bandsaw. These upgrades opened up even more possibilities for the unique pieces I could create.

Building the workshop and acquiring new tools were exciting steps, but the real magic happens when I get to work on your projects. Whether it's a handcrafted map, a piece of functional furniture, or a special custom creation, I pour my heart and soul into each piece, ensuring it reflects your vision and brings joy to your life.

This transition to full-time woodworking has been a dream come true. It's more than just a job; it's a chance to express myself creatively, connect with amazing people like you, and create something truly meaningful.

So, what's next for G. Loebick Woodworks? I'm excited to continue expanding my skills and exploring new techniques. I'm also eager to collaborate with more of you on unique projects that bring your ideas to life.
